April 26, 1986 \u2013 the day that divided time into \u201cbefore\u201d and \u201cafter\u201d the Chernobyl disaster<\/h6>

At 1:23:47 Kyiv time, the largest man-made accident in human history occurred - with a difference of two seconds, two explosions occurred at the fourth reactor of the Chernobyl NPP, as a result of which the total radiation of isotopes released into the air amounted to 50 million curies, which is 30-40 times more than during the explosion of the bomb in Hiroshima in 1945. The power of the explosions was so great that they completely destroyed the reactor shell and tore off the multi-ton upper plate of the 4th power unit, through which more than 60 tons of radioactive materials rose into the air, including isotopes of uranium, plutonium, iodine, cesium and strontium.<\/p> <\/div> <\/div><\/div> <\/div>

Immediately after the disaster, 31 people died, and 600,000 liquidators who participated in extinguishing fires and clearing up received high doses of radiation.<\/h5>

Residents of contaminated areas, as well as all those who participated in the liquidation of the consequences of the accident, were found to be prone to cataracts, cardiovascular diseases, and decreased immunity. In addition, it has been proven that exposure to small doses of radiation can cause anxiety and aggressiveness and affect the psyche of people, especially children. It is now believed that the most common diseases caused by the release of radioactive substances in Chernobyl are thyroid cancer and leukemia.<\/p><\/div> <\/div>

    As of January 1, 2019, 1,816,838 people who suffered as a result of the Chernobyl disaster are registered with regional social protection bodies. \n
    193,799 participants in the liquidation of the consequences of the Chernobyl accident, including 57,782 persons with disabilities whose disability was causally linked to the Chernobyl disaster (group I disability - 2,144 persons, group II disability - 34,189 persons, group III disability - 21,449 persons).
    1,620,395 victims of the Chernobyl disaster, including 48,501 persons with disabilities whose disability was causally linked to the Chernobyl disaster (group I disability 2,405 persons, group II disability \u2013 25,092 persons, group III disability \u2013 21,004 persons), and 355,426 children.<\/p> <\/div> <\/div><\/div> <\/div>

Citizens who suffered as a result of the Chernobyl disaster are concerned about social protection issues. Increasing pension benefits, accrual and payment of pension supplements.
